Cartoonist and artist who created the original "Yu-Gi-Oh!" manga that led to a card game, several animated series, and a wide-reaching franchise.
He began working as a manga artist in 1982, but he didn't gain recognition until 1990 for "Tokiō no Tsuma" and for "Tennenshoku Danji Buray" from 1991 until 1992.
His card game was originally called "Magic and Wizards" and was intended to be limited in its scope.
He was raised in Tokyo, Japan. He loved shogi, mahjong, and tabletop role-playing games.
He participated in an art exchange with "Hellboy" creator Mike Mignola .
