He and two of his bandmates were part of the predecessor group, Loud Fast Rules.
He sang the lead vocals on the group's single "Hot Pants," and played the murdered in their video for "Artificial Heart."
He grew up in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
He and his group played at Bill Clinton's inauguration ball, which was sponsored by MTV.
