Javelin Thrower
Kenyan javelin thrower who, in 2013, set a national record in the event with a distance of 85.40 meters. He is the winner of such events as the 2012 African Championships in Athletics and the 2014 Commonwealth Games.
He was inspired to pursue javelin throwing after seeing videos of great throwers like Jan Zelezny on YouTube. He won the national junior title in 2006.
In 2011, he became the first Kenyan to win the javelin throwing title at the All-Africa Games.
He is the fourth of seven children born to his parents. His older brother Henry Kiprono is also a javelin thrower.
He beat out Trinidadian Olympic gold medalist Keshorn Walcott at the 2014 Commonwealth Games.
