She started out performing in school plays during preschool and went on to perform at many festivals around the South before later graduating from Belmont University with a degree in business administration.
She was part of the 2013 blind auditions for the fourth season of the television competition show The Voice but did not end up qualifying.
She was born in Lancaster, South Carolina. Her father was an engineer and her mother was an accountant. She was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis.
One of her musical influences is Tanya Tucker.
