French sculptor admired for his perceptiveness and realism. He sculpted The Triumph of the Republic, finished in 1899.
He attended the École des Beaux-Arts de Paris in the classroom of François-Joseph Duret.
His work is associated with the movement of New Sculpture.
He married Irma Vuillier and they had one daughter, Georgette.
He and Edouard Lanteri are both associated with New Sculpture.
