Left-handed reliever who made his MLB debut in 2006 for the Pittsburgh Pirates; after spending two years in Pittsburgh, he played in the minor leagues for three seasons, then returned to the MLB with the Philadelphia Phillies in 2011.
He joined the Boston Red Sox farm system in 1998, and made the All-Star Futures Game in 2004.
On July 8, 2011, while playing for the Philadelphia Phillies, he pitched an immaculate inning, striking out the side in just 9 pitches.
He was born in Villa Riva, Duarte, Dominican Republic.
He recorded his first career win after his immaculate inning, when teammate Raul Ibanez hit a walk-off home run.
