A former boy soprano at the Metropolitan Opera, he began his professional acting career on Broadway in 1971 in a production of Unlikely Heroes.
He has had roles in other notable films such as Sophie's Choice, City Slickers and its sequel, and Wall Street.
He was married to and later divorced from Peggy Rajski from 1983 to 1998.
He played Zagosh in the 1998 poker film Rounders, which co-starred Edward Norton.
