Jorge Guillén

Spanish poet, critic, and academic whose literary works include four collections of Cantico. He was a recipient of the prestigious Miguel de Cervantes Prize.
He received his doctorate from the University of Madrid. The first edition of his Cantico was published in 1928.
He delivered a lecture at Harvard University that honored his fellow Generation of '27 poets.
He wed Germaine Cahen, with whom he had two children. After his first wife's death, he married Irene Mochi-Sismondi.
He was born in the same year as American Romantic poet Clark Smith .
