Stanko Vraz

Croatian-Slovene poet, translator, and publisher who was associated with the nineteenth-century Illyrian movement. His most their work is a collection of folk songs written in the Slovene language.
In 1842, he founded a significant Croatian literary publication called Kolo.
He earned his living as a writer; he was the first Croatian citizen to do so.
He found a muse in Ljubica Cantilly, to whom many of his poems were dedicated.
He translated works by poet Adam Mickiewicz.
