Head football coach for USC who won four Rose Bowls and a national championship in 1978.
He went to elementary school with John Madden.
He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2009.
He had six children with his wife Linda.
He coached future pro and college football hall of fame running back Marcus Allen at USC.
