Swedish neoclassical sculptor from Stockholm who sculpted several subjects from classical mythology, such as Diomedes Stealing the Palladium.
He studied in Paris and then moved to Rome.
He sculpted a huge representation of The Muse of History Recording the Deeds of Gustavus Adolphus.
He was the son of the decorator Christoffer Sergel.
He sculpted a monument to philosopher Rene Descartes.
