Joe McNally

Known for photography books such as Sketching Light and The Moment It Clicks, this American photographer is also their for his more than two-decade career with National Geographic. In addition, while working for LIFE magazine, he published a their photography series titled "Faces of Ground Zero — Portraits of the Heroes of September 11th."
He earned both undergraduate and graduate degrees from Syracuse University.
He was a recipient of World Press Photo, Pictures of the Year International, and Alfred Eisenstaedt awards.
He was born in Montclair, New Jersey, and he later settled in Ridgefield, Connecticut.
He and British photographer George Rodger both published much of their work in National Geographic magazine.
