Jean Kambanda
Politician
Member of the Democratic Republican Movement who briefly held office as the fifth Prime Minister of Rwanda in 1994, during the Rwandan Genocide. He became the fist head of government to plead guilty to genocide in the aftermath of the violent struggle between Hutus and Tutsis in his country.
He was the chairman of the United Popular BPR bank before starting his political career.
He was sentenced to life in prison after being the only leading Rwandan political figure to plead guilty to his role in the Rwandan Genocide.
He was born to Hutu parents in Rwanda.
He replaced Agathe Uwilingiyimana as Prime Minister after she was assassinated in 1994.
