Jazz artist who founded or co-founded such groups as The Jason Reolon Trio, Breakfast Included, and The Restless Natives.
He earned a Bachelor of Music degree in jazz performance and composition in 2001 from the University of Cape Town's College of Music.
He won the 2001 South African Music Rights Organisation (SAMRO) National Overseas Scholarship for Best Jazz Pianist.
His father was jazz drummer Bobby Gien who played with Ronnie Scott's trio as a drummer, and his mother was jazz singer Josie Gien.
He and fellow South African Dean Geyer were contemporaries.
