Artist who won the Canadian Music Award for Male Vocalist of the Year in 2001 and the Global Artist Award at the CMA Awards in 2006. He released hits like "Learning a Lot About Love" and "All the Way."
He started learning guitar when he was seven years old, leading him to write a first song when he was twelve. In the 1980s he joined a band called Three Quarter Country before winning a Toronto talent contest in 1988 that resulted in him moving to Nashville.
He was a member of the band The Road Hammers with fellow musicians Clayton Bellamy and Chris Byrne from 2005 to 2010.
He married Terrine Barnes in 1999 and the couple has two children.
He has cited Merle Haggard as one of this early country musical influences.
