Remembered for her 1861 domestic instructional manual, Mrs. Beeton's Book of Household Management, this Victorian-era cooking and housekeeping authority also established a weekly ladies' magazine called The Queen.

Before Fame

During her youth, she studied in Germany and excelled as a pianist.

Trivia

Shortly after giving birth to her fourth son, she died of a reproductive infection called Puerperal fever. She was only twenty-eight years old.

Family Life

She grew up in London and Surrey, England, as the oldest of twenty-one siblings. She later married the English publisher Samuel Orchart Beeton; the couple had two surviving sons.
