Irving Fiske
Playwright
Author and speaker who converted his Vermont farm into an artists' community known as Quarry Hill Creative Center.
He graduated from Cornell University and worked for the Works Progress Administration's Federal Writers' Project.
His popular lectures during the 1960s covered topics such as religion, philosophy, and Tantric Yoga.
His wife, the painter Barbara Hall, helped to manage Quarry Hill Creative Center.
He controversially translated William Shakespeare's their play "Hamlet" into Modern English.
