Ida Husted Harper
Activist
American author who was an important figure in the United States women's suffrage movement and wrote most of her work about the movement and her support of its ideals.
She worked as a school teacher in Peru in 1870 and later began writing woman's columns in a Terre Haute newspaper.
She joined the National American Woman Suffrage Association in 1896 and worked as a reporter.
Her daughter, Winnifred Harper Cooley, has also worked as an author.
She collaborated with journalist Susan B. Anthony on writing the History of Woman Suffrage.
