Hugh Scott

American lawyer and politician who represented Pennsylvania as a Republican in the U.S. House of Representatives from 1941 to 1945 and from 1947 to 1959. He also served in the U.S. Senate from 1959 to 1977.
He earned a law degree from the University of Virginia School of Law and was admitted to the bar in 1922.
He was one of the congressional leaders who met with and told Richard Nixon to resign following Watergate.
He was born in Fredericksburg to Hugh Doggett and Jane Lee Scott. His grandfather served in the Confederate Army during the Civil War.
He served as the chairman for Dwight D. Eisenhower's presidential campaign in 1952.
