French actor and director who made a name for himself with roles in French films like 1995's La Haine. He reached a new level of international fame when he was cast as Dr. Arnold Bluhm in the Oscar-winning 2005 film The Constant Gardener.
He grew up living between Ouidah and Cotonou. He began his screen acting career in 1992, when he appeared on the show Nestor Burma and in the film Dien Bien Phu.
He coined the word "parkour" to describe the training discipline revolutionized by his friend David Belle.
He was raised primarily by his grandparents.
He starred opposite Ralph Fiennes in The Constant Gardener.
