Film actor who appeared in more than two dozen tiles from the 1930s to the 1950s and later became a TV director. His long list of credits includes 1975's The Invisible Man, 1960's Thriller, and 1959's 77 Sunset Strip.
After completing his studies at RADA in 1927, he made his screen debut.
In between his acting roles, he served in World War II, flying for the Royal Air Force.
He was married twice and had two children. He was married to his second wife, Suzanne Weldon, from 1946 until her death in 1995.
He teamed up with action star Errol Flynn on the Adventures of Don Juan and on the 1950 film, Kim.
