Indonesian singer who is considered an icon in the traditional Indonesian genre of music known as kroncong. Her song "Damai Tapi Gersang" became the first Indonesian song to win the World Popular Song Festival and was named on the best Indonesian songs of all time by Rolling Stone.
She debuted in 1974 and placed second at the Indonesian Popular Song Festival two years later.
Popular Singaporean singer Hetty Sarlene is named after her.
She married Yusuf Emir Faishal, with whom she has three children. She has four additional children with Aprilia Puspitawati and Herdawati Bakrie, to whom she was previously married.
She won the 1977 Indonesian Popular Song Festival with a cover of Titiek Puspa's "Cinta Putih."
