Haider Qureshi
Poet
Pakistani author and poet whose poetry mixed the traditional Urdu language with elements of vernacular speech. He is perhaps best known for his 2009 collection, Umr-e-Lahaasil Ka Haasil (translated as: The Outcome of Futile Life).
He published his first ghazal in 1971 and went on to receive a Master of Arts degree in Urdu literature.
His poems were translated into Arabic, German, Turkish, and English.
He was born into a Seraki-speaking family and was the son of Qureshi Ghulam Sarwar.
His literary contemporary, Parveen Shakir, was also born in Pakistan.
