Super middleweight southpaw who won the WBO Super Middleweight title in 2016. As of October 2018, he has been named the #2 super middleweight fighter by The Ring magazine and BoxRec after defending his title successfully four times.
He made his professional boxing debut in August 2009. He later won the then-vacant WBC youth middleweight title in December 2010.
He became the first ever Mexican super middleweight boxer to win that weight class' title upon his 2016 victory. He made his professional boxing debut outside of Mexico in 2013.
He was originally born and raised in Mazatlan, Sinaloa, Mexico.
He defeated Arthur Abraham to win the WBO Super Middleweight title in 2016.
