George Jackson
Politician
Canadian politician and mill owner who served as a representative in the Canadian Assembly. He was a Member of Parliament for the electoral district of Grey South from 1867 to 1872.
He studied in Yorkshire and worked as a merchant in Durham, England before moving to Canada, where he purchased a mill in 1844.
He entered politics as a liberal but became a conservative when he decided to support John A. Macdonald.
He married Susan Merritt in 1832.
Like Stephen Harper, he was a Canadian politician.
