New Zealand and Australian eye doctor who has been credited with restoring the eye sight for tens of thousands Aboriginal People.
He studied at the Moorfields Eye Hospital in 1961.
He was named Australian of the Year in 1990.
He married his second wife, Gabi O'Sullivan, in 1980.
He was a groundbreaking doctor in his field, which can also be said for cardiac surgeon Rene Favaloro .
