Frank Church
Politician
American lawyer, politician, and member of the Democratic Party who was a US Senator from Idaho from 1957 to 1981. He was notably the Chairman of the important and powerful Senate Committee on Foreign Relations from 1979 to 1981.
He obtained his Bachelor's from Stanford in 1957 before enlisting in the US Army where he was a military intelligence officer in the China-Burma-India theater during World War II.
He hoped to secure the Democratic Party's nomination during the Presidential election in 1976, but ultimately lost to Jimmy Carter.
He was married to his wife, Bethine Clark Church, until his death in 1984.
