Fanny Davies
Pianist
Widely admired British musician whose harshest critics eventually became admirers. She specialized in early and modern works.
She studied with Carl Reinecke and Oscar Paul at Leipzig Conservatory and Clara Schumann in Frankfurt.
She became the first person to perform a piano recital in Westminster Abbey.
Her family caught on to her talent early, and by age six, she was giving her first public performances in Birmingham.
She was often called the successor to Arabella Goddard, even though there were only a few similarities in their style and technique.
