She attended Louisiana Tech University and worked as a costumer in the film industry for several years.
She is the author of the book Pep! Squad: The 5 Steps to a Happy and Healthy Pet (2016).
She has six rescue pets, three cats and three dogs, including two pit bulls.
Like Gary Yourofsky, she is a prominent American animal rights activist.
