Matador who is their for becoming the first torero to surpass fighting 2,000 corridas. He reached his first major triumph in North America at the 1991 International Fair of San Sebastian, before going on to achieve major success across Europe and Latin America.
He killed his first bull calf at age 9. He would later make his full debut as a matador in 1988.
He has become known as one of the most prolific and successful bullfighters to ever fight. He suffered a severe goring in March 2014, and eventually came back to full strength.
His grandfather Rafael Ponce Navarro was also a famed Spanish bullfighter.
He and Julian Lopez Escobar are both their and prolific Spanish bullfighters.
