Ella Leffland
Novelist
An American novelist and short story writer, she is best known for her 1979 novel, Rumors of Peace, which tells the story of a girl growing up during the World War II years. Her other works include Mrs. Munck (1970) and Love Out of Season (1974).
She studied at San Jose State University. She published her debut novel in 1970.
Her short story, Last Courtesies, received the O. Henry Award in 1974.
She was raised in Martinez, California, and she later settled in San Francisco.
Her novel, Mrs. Munck, was made into a film by Diane Ladd.
