He received a doctorate from the University of Munich in 1888.
He won the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1907 for proving that living yeast cells were not needed for sugar fermentation.
He married Lotte Stahl in 1900.
He won the Nobel Prize in Chemistry four years before Madame Curie did.
