He became fascinated by lasers at age 12. He earned a degree in chemistry from Southern Illinois University and later began working towards a PhD at the University of Rochester.
He is an avid practitioner of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
He is the brother of fellow YouTuber Elesa Anthony.
