Early in his career, he played in a band called The Tangerine Puppets.
He and The Ramones were known for hits like "Blitzkrieg Bop" and "53rd & 3rd."
He married Vera Boldis in 1978, divorced her in 1995, and then married Barbara Zampini.
He and Johnny Ramone were bandmates.
