Best remembered for playing Chris Hughes on "As the World Turns," a role he played from 1956 until his death.
Prior to making it big on "As the World Turns," he was in a Broadway production of Thorton Wilder's "The Happy Journey to Trenton and Camden" in 1948.
He portrayed Chief Justice Earl Warren in the TV mini-series 'Kennedy' in 1983.
He grew up in Webster under the name William Donald MacLaughlin.
He played the Helen Wagner's on-screen husband on "As the World Turns."
