American actor, comedian, and chef best known for his collaborations with directors Mel Brooks and Don Bluth. His notable films include History of the World, Part I, Smokey and the Bandit II, and You Don't Mess with the Zohan.
He went to a performing arts high school, but studied biology in college.
He briefly starred in his own sitcom, Lotsa Luck.
He met his future wife, actress Carol Arthur, while an employee for a summer theater program in 1964. The couple had three sons.
He frequently appeared in films with his close friend Burt Reynolds.
