Football coach who was the 1996 AP NFL Coach of the Year while leading the Carolina Panthers.
He began his coaching career in 1972 as a graduate assistant at Kent State, and made his NFL debut in 1986 as defensive backs coach for the New Orleans Saints.
He won Super Bowl XLV as defensive coordinator of the Green Bay Packers.
He was born in Cambridge, Ohio.
He was the first head coach of the Carolina Panthers, who have since employed coaches such as Ron Rivera.
