He initially played for Agrotikos Asteras in 1970.
He was capped 33 times and scored seven goals over the course of his career; he played for the Greek national team from 1978 until 1986; he is widely considered to be one of the greatest footballers in the country's history.
His family was residing in Evosmos, Thessaloniki, Greece, when he was born.
His career began around the time that Pele's was winding down.
