Dewey Redman
Saxophonist
Free jazz saxophonist, bandleader, and collaborator with Ornette Coleman and Keith Jarrett. He was a member of Old and New Dreams, a jazz group based in New York.
He started as a clarinet player but switched to an alto saxophone at Prairie View Agricultural and Mechanical University.
He played at the Woodstock Jazz Festival in 1989.
He was survived by his wife Lidija Pedevska-Redman and their two sons Tarik and Joshua.
Redman collaborated with many different musicians over the course of his life, including Pat Metheny.
