David Geffen

Created Asylum Records in 1970, Geffen Records in 1980, DGC Records in 1990, and one of DreamWorks SKG's three founders in 1994.
He worked in the William Morris Agency's mailroom, later being promoted to an agent.
He signed such artists as the Eagles, Joni Mitchell, Bob Dylan, and Tom Waits while with Asylum.
His father Abraham Geffen was a scholar, and his mother Batya was a corset maker.
He co-founded DreamWorks SKG with Steven Spielberg and Jeffrey Katzenberg.
