He became a member of the band Union Station in 1994.
He has won over a dozen Grammy awards, including one for Best Country Collaboration with Vocals for Man of Constant Sorrow.
He and his wife Elise have children named Kathryn, Chris, and John.
He was part of the team who created the award-winning soundtrack to the film "O Brother, Where Art Thou?", starring George Clooney.
