About

Sculptor whose their statue "Appeal to the Great Spirit" was exhibited at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. His best-known works included a statue of Paul Revere on horseback that stands in a public park in Boston and a sculpture of the Angel Moroni that sits atop the famed Salt Lake Temple in Utah.

Before Fame

He studied sculpturing with Truman Howe Bartlett when he was 19. He was an Olympic archer who won the bronze medal at the 1904 St. Louis games.

Trivia

He became a full Academician in 1930 at the National Academy of Design, after first becoming an Associate member in 1912.

Family Life

He was born in Springville, Utah, to a Mormon family. He eventually converted to Unitarianism.

Associated With

His legacy was honored long after his death when former U.S. President Bill Clinton kept a miniature version of Dallin's "Spirit" statue in the Oval Office.
