He played baseball and football at Brighton High School in Michigan.
He redshirted in 2001 at the University of Toledo, transferring to Grand Valley State before playing in a game.
He lived in Michigan with his wife Jennifer and their two children.
He was signed by the 2008 Denver Broncos team that included quarterback Jay Cutler but was released before the regular season began.
