Country Singer
Honky Tonk singer and member of the Grand Ole Opry who was killed in a plane crash. He released hit singles like "Alabam" and "Signed Sealed and Delivered."
On a dare, he travelled from his home in Adams Country to Cincinnati to enter a musical contest; through the competition he wound up performing on the city's WLW and WKRC radio stations.
His breakthrough came when he was invited to join the Golden West Cowboys and perform on the Grand Ole Opry, replacing the outgoing Eddy Arnold.
He grew up in Adams County, Ohio.
He and Hawkshaw Hawkins lost their lives in a tragic 1963 plane crash.
