Mountain Climber
Renowned mountain climber known for scaling the world's most perilous mountains, including Mount Everest and El Capitan. He is the author of several books, including 1998's "With You in Spirit."
His first major expedition was the Southeast Face of Gurney Peak in Alaska in 1987.
He discovered the body of famed mountain climber George Mallory during an expedition to the summit of Mount Everest in 1999.
He married Jennifer Lowe-Anker.
He was featured in the 2010 documentary "The Wildest Dream" alongside actress Natasha Richardson in her final role.
