Country singer who released the 1958 hit "Who's Sorry Now?" and who appeared in many movies, including Looking for Love. She was one of the highest charting female solo singers in the 1950s and 1960s.
She went to pageants and talent shows as a singer and accordion player. She was on Startime Kids on NBC in the mid-1950s.
She almost accepted a scholarship to New York University, but pursued music full-time instead.
She married Dick Kanellis on August 15, 1964, Izzy Marion on January 16, 1971, Joseph Garzilli on September 16, 1973, and Bob Parkinson on June 27, 1985. She and Garzilli had a son named Joseph Jr.
After she had success with recording an album in another language, her example was followed by others like Brenda Lee.
