English musician who gained fame playing keyboard in the pop group Pet Shop Boys and for his reserved stage presence in concert.
He attended the University of Liverpool and studied architecture.
He stood very still while playing the keyboard. The Guardian commented he was their for not doing anything.
He grew up in a musical family. His grandfather played trombone in the jazz band The Nitwits.
He met musician Neil Tennant at a Kings Road hi-fi shop in 1981 and started playing with him shortly thereafter.
