Arminda Schutte
Pianist
Classical pianist and pedagogue who became one of Cuba's most recognized and respected pianists.
She studied at the Municipal Conservatory of Havana and began playing with the Symphonic Orchestra of Havana in 1928.
She eventually joined the adjunct faculty of the University of Miami, Florida International University, and Miami-Dade Community College.
She was born into an upper middle-class, well-educated family. Her father Julio was French and insisted that the family only speak French at home.
Her favorite composer was Robert Schumann.
