Charlie Gehringer

Hall of Fame second baseman and 1937 American League MVP who played his entire 19-year career with the Detroit Tigers. He helped lead the Tigers to a World Series Championship in 1935 and retired with 2,839 hits and a .320 batting average.
He was discovered by the Detroit Tigers while playing baseball for the University of Michigan.
He was so quiet that his former manager Mickey Cochrane once commented that he said "hello" at the beginning of the season and "Goodbye" at the end of the season and nothing more.
He was married to Josephine Gehringer.
He considered his former manager Ty Cobb to be a father figure.
