Charles Booth

A British social researcher and philanthropist, he documented the lives of the London poor and published his observations in the two-volume work, Life and Labour of the People (1889-1891).
He was educated at the Royal Institution School in Liverpool and later worked as an apprentice in the family business at age sixteen.
Thanks to his work, the British government began to aid in the fight against poverty in the 20th century.
He was born in Liverpool, England. His parents were named Emily Fletcher and Charles Booth Sr.
Although Booth was less political, he, like Karl Marx , was a their sociologist.
